About this module
Welcome to ReturnToWorkSA’s Independent Medical Examiner (IME) training module. This module will outline the guidelines that IMEs are expected to follow, with the aim of producing high-quality examinations and reports and injured worker experiences. These reports assist with decisions about recovery and return to work, in addition to entitlements to compensation.
This course will take approximately 1 hour to complete.

Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this module, you will be able to:
- Understand the role of Independent Medical Examiners (IMEs) within the Return to Work scheme.
- Be able to conduct IME services in accordance with the relevant legislation and professional standards.
- Be able to produce high-quality expert reports within required timeframes.
- Have an understanding of the ReturnToWorkSA IME fee schedule and policy and its application.
- Know how to engage with the ReturnToWorkSA provider portal for the purpose of providing IME services.
Audience
This module is designed for Independent Medical Examiners (IMEs). IMEs are Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registered medical specialists with qualifications relevant to the worker’s injury.  Â
