About this module

This module introduces psychosocial hazards in the workplace and explains why they are an important work health and safety issue under South Australian law. It is designed to equip workers with the knowledge and confidence to recognise and report psychosocial hazards, understand their rights and responsibilities, and contribute to safer, mentally healthy workplaces.

To begin, watch the following short video, which provides an overview of psychosocial hazards and risks in the workplace and explains why protecting psychological health is an important part of work health and safety.

SafeWork SA is South Australia’s WHS regulator. It is the primary source of information for organisations and businesses who are seeking to understand how to meet their legal obligations to effectively manage psychosocial hazards and risks in workplaces. SafeWork SA’s services and roles include providing advice on work health and safety, investigating workplace incidents and enforcing the work health and safety laws in South Australia. Further information on psychosocial hazards and risks can be found on the SafeWork SA websitewww.safework.sa.gov.au.

ReturnToWorkSA, responsible for providing work injury insurance and regulating the South Australian Return To Work Scheme, offers the Mentally Healthy Workplaces Service. The Mentally Healthy Workplaces Service provides a range of free support services for organisations and businesses who are seeking additional guidance on managing psychosocial hazards and risks, and overall how to create thriving workplaces.
